Hi everyone! I'm sad to say but college is taking over my life! I barely have
enough time to go online between studying and hanging out with friends and
sleeping..so even though I don't really want to do it, I have to leave!
Celestial-Luminesse now belongs to Chloe-chan because I know shes a
great waller and shes really responsible...so I know she'll do a great job
keeping this group going. She'll also be the one taking charge of the purokon
contest so please disregard my earlier announcement and send her the entry PMs
instead of me (Alterlier and Maplerose - dont worry, I forwarded your PMs to her
so you don't need to resend your entries in). I'll still be on MT once in a
while so you can contact me, but not as much as usual...and I will still be a
member of CL! I know this is really sudden and I didn't really consult anyone
about it, but I just felt that Chloe was the best person to ask. Yea, so I had a
great time running this group while I did it and you guys are all such great
members! I'll miss you all! I'll probably make some wallpapers during the summer
while school is out but I highly doubt it...I've kind of lost interest in
walling but we'll see how it goes when I get deathly bored.

vote on doujin because I don't know how to draw and I feel unfair voting since I
dont really know what to look for.
i'd like to say no, just because it would make it more challenging (because
people like to make all their outlines black and all their clouds white) but I
guess I'll take it if people do want to use black/white. keep it to a minimum
though and use it artistically rather than just for outlines or clouds.

yes, you can use different shades of gold and same for the other colors of the
color wheel. I just wouldnt stray too far out on the gold thing though, because
gold itself is hard to identify.

So we've decided to have a slightly different kind of contest this time with
lots of rules (we all know you love rules!)

The contest is a project and a contest combined. Thus called a
"purokon" (shortened the japanese way)! In japanese project is
pronounced "purojekuto" and contest is "contesuto" so
purojekuto + contestuto is purokon! got it? okay, moving on here.
Youre allowed to either participate in just the project, OR the project and the contest. You cannot be in only the contest because your
wallpaper must fit the project guidelines. easy enough so far right? Heres where
it gets a bit complicated.

1. Your wallpaper must be at least 1024x768. We dont care whether its widescreen
or normal.
2. Only 1 entry per participant and it MUST be a wallpaper. No doujinshis.
Vectored, painted..whatever, we dont care.
3. Must be within the MT policy (obviously.) means no hentai, porn, etc.
Artistic nudity is allowed but just crazy panties showing and stuff will not be
allowed.
4. No collabs!
5. Your wallpaper may NOT show your entire character. (This only applies if you
use a character whether its an animal or human...if you do scenery dont worry
about it). Only 1 eye allowed to be showing! Its better if we cant recognize the
character on first glance. edit on this rule...its okay if you show their
entire body as long as theyre in shadow or something and you dont have
distinctive facial features and whatnot just to make it slightly
easier

okay, i understand this rule gets a little tricky so make sure you send me a
draft of your wallpaper of how its going to look before you start working on it

yea, you might want to update your wall with chloe-chan's suggestion. MT doesnt
allow ghosting. You see the same scan of the girl on the bg that you have thats
really see-through? thats called ghosting and you're not allowed to do that on
MT. You need to take that off before you submit your wall again. The star also
looks a bit pixellated like you enlarged it or something, but I might be wrong,
since the diagonal lines on the star are at such a steep angle, you might just
get pixellation. If you want your wall to still look busy without the ghosted
image in the background, why not try some patterns?
actually I dont think the black bars or the serial number look bad...theres
black in the wall itself so it fits.
I dont really see anything else thats wrong with it.
Sorry, I dont mean to be repeating this the third time (since misa and chiron
already said this) but I think it was probably the description. If you put the
same description as what you put on deviantart, I think it would have gotten in.
You just need to explain more, like maybe give credits to where you got the
image, how long it took you to make the wall, what you like about it...etc.
you need to work on the extraction. Also, the text is hard to read because of
all the swirls. My advice is to leave the swirly letter as the first letter for
each word, but make the rest of the letters in that work simple font, like times
new roman or century gothic. You also dont have much that puts the background
and the character together...if you want to make it look more like a night sky
or less cluttered, I would overlay those tiny star sparkles and lower the
opacity. Your wallpaper just looks wayy too cluttered. I would also move sakura
down and towards the center of the wallpaper more because it doesnt look like
shes the main focus of the wall as of now - the text is taking up a lot of the
attention.
eek. yes, thats bright. My first few walls were really bright too, so I
understand what youre doing. First of all, I think you need to change your
monitor brightness settings. That was what happened to me. Make your monitor
brighter so your walls look really bright to you, and you make them darker =
which in turn will make your walls look darker to everyone else. I hope that
made sense. I dont know what kind of effects youre using, but it looks like
overlay, and I have to admit, overlaying was my absolutely favorite effect in the whole entire world when
I started. BUT! Im sorry, youre going to have to part with it sooner or later,
so the sooner the better .
Like mu-chan said, you need to blend your characters in more. The bg looks okay,
but you need to filter your building on the left side more because its obvious
that its a stock photo. I dont use filters, but I've seen people use the
watercolor filter, or the poster edge(i think thats what its called?) filter. Go
throough your filters and figure out which one works the best for you!
You also need to practice on your character extractions, and the image quality
doesnt look so great. I dont know if you resized your image, but it looks like
someone made the image bigger. I'm not blaming you for that - sometimes
scanuploaders upload their scans without realizing that theyre enlarged.
-Extraction looks good.
-For the ripples, you need to free transform the height smaller of the ripples
so it looks flatter.
-like what almost every other person has said already, sakura is too dark and
contrasted with the bg. it looks like she has a hard light layer on her or
something..I think you need to make her lighter and softer looking. I dont know
if you did duplicate her layer and put it on somekind of layer effect, but if
you did, take off that layer effect. If you didnt, duplicate her layer, put it
on screen or something, and gaussian blur the top layer a bit. Its hard to
advise you on what to do with her layer because I dont know what will look good
without doing it myself.
-that moon or planet looks really crisp against a smooth background. I would
blur the edges of it just a teeny tiny bit
-As for the planet/bubble thing that Chloe mentioned, I personally dont mind it,
but I think you need to take the image out of it. Looks out of place.
-Agree with Chloe about the lens flare
-I would also recommend maybe duplicating your character layer, overlaying the
top layer, and gaussian blurring the bottom layer. If that looks too bright, you
can always go with the other method - instead of setting the top layer to
overlay, set it to soft light, and gaussian blur the top layer instead of the bottom one. Just play around and see
what works. I just think that Jeanne (the character? I cant remember her name)
needs to be a bit brighter and softer.
I'm sorry I havent been actively updating CL for the past few weeks. I do have
an illuminates folder in my favorites with all the walls and vectors bookmarked,
but I can never get around to putting them up. SO! This leads us to the thread

First of all, Ive decided that CL needs a new admin. Another person to be the
owner and take care of the group. You'll pretty much do the same thing that I
do. Here are some requirements:
-You cannot be an admin of 2 or more groups
-You cannot be a mod of 4 or more groups
-You cannot be in charge of featuring art for another group
-Must have walling/vectoring experience
-You don't have to be a member of CL right now, but you will have to join to be
an admin
-Lots of time on your hands. I understand we all have lives, and I want everyone
to have a life of course, but I cant have someone thats busy all the time being
the admin.
-Someone familiar with MT, comfortable about asking group mods to do tasks politely, think up and manage
contests/judging

Now, we have another issue in CL. I've noticed that almost every single vector
sumbitted in the guestbook is eligible for a illumination. It gets tiring after
a while to keep illuminating vectors when they are all pretty much good enough
to be illuminated. I need your opinions on whether or not we should keep the
vector illumination section. Yes, yes, vector people I am very sorry because I
know how much you want your art to be recognized as well, but your vectors are
all good and its hard not to illuminate all of them! Every week it'll be the
same people, and the only think I'm looking at right now, other than clean and
skillful vectoring, is how complicated the vector is. Pretty much every vector
coming in looks complicated enough.
So, we basically have 3 options - completely do away with the vector
illuminations, keep it, or create one illumination section for mixed art (both
wallpapers and vectors). If we make one illumination section for mixed art, we
may be able to narrow down the vector illuminations to 1 vector per week rather
than 2 or 3.

Now, we have another issue in CL. I've noticed that almost every single vector sumbitted in the guestbook is eligible for a illumination. It gets tiring after a while to keep illuminating vectors when they are all pretty much good enough to be illuminated. I need your opinions on whether or not we should keep the vector illumination section. Yes, yes, vector people I am very sorry because I know how much you want your art to be recognized as well, but your vectors are all good and its hard not to illuminate all of them! Every week it'll be the same people, and the only think I'm looking at right now, other than clean and skillful vectoring, is how complicated the vector is. Pretty much every vector coming in looks complicated enough.
So, we basically have 3 options - completely do away with the vector illuminations, keep it, or create one illumination section for mixed art (both wallpapers and vectors). If we make one illumination section for mixed art, we may be able to narrow down the vector illuminations to 1 vector per week rather than 2 or 3.
